Quiet Fall Guests

This lovely spirea bush in our backyard becomes a sweet habitat for the yearly stopovers of Monarch butterflies. Last year the bush was so covered in the butterflies it looked like a giant orange and black ball.

I wish our Monarch guests a speedy and safe trip to perhaps Angangueo, in Michoacan, Mexico. Haven't asked them their exact destination as I have yet to learn butterfly-speak, but I am honored by their brief visits with us each year.

Wait a minute - does spirea bloom in the fall. Mine never does. Could it be eupatorium perhaps?
