I was Lillie Langtry in another life, and might have a crush on Calamity Jane.

Scene On the Fourth

Scene from a second story window, Market Street,Philadelphia in July, 1776:

John Adams: "I shall not write the blasted thing. You write it!"

Benjamin Franklin: "Well, I'm not gonna write it....let's get Thom! He'll write anything!"

Thomas Jefferson, never batting an eye, slides paper and pen towards himself and the sound of quill scratching on parchment breaks the sweltering air.

John and Ben in unison: "He's writing, he's writing! Hey, Thom!"

And thus, one of the greatest documents in history was composed...more or less.

Another Fourth Frivolity:

Scene from a would-be blogger of yesteryear:

On this day in 1931, James Joyce married Nora Barnacle at the Kensington Registry Office in London. They had been living together for twenty-six years. She once complained about Joyce's late hours, "I can't sleep anymore ... I go to bed and then that man sits in the next room and continues laughing about his own writing. And then I knock at the door, and I say, now Jim, stop writing or stop laughing!"
