Growing up, I just knew that Memorial Day came on my birthday, and I was pretty clueless as to what exactly the holiday celebrated.
Please don't slam me with unpatriotic sentiments if I say I wished there never had to be a Memorial Day. No war = no dead or maimed war veterans. How simple is that?
I know, I know. It is pie-in-the-sky unrealistic thinking.
But, we do have some wonderful folks in the military, both present and past, and today belongs to them.
Thank you, Vets, for keeping me and mine safe.
