A Must Read for New Parents

Bill over at "Nothing But Love" has sent a chill down my spine and anger to my heart with his post about "Kristina". As an expecting grandparent, I find this information shocking. How can I have raised four children and never known about the dangers of powdered infant formula? I don't know the odds of getting contaminated powdered formula, but the fact that the public was not given any warning or information about this boggles my mind. I knew that American companies were still selling banned pesticides and herbicides overseas to unsuspecting third world nations. We sell/send these powdered infant formula as well. I can understand that a risk from contaminated formula might be quite small compared to an HIV mother breast-feeding her child, but if the FDA knows about this risk, how can the powdered formula stay on any market, including a third world nation?

Perhaps I need to do some more homework on this, but in the meantime, I will be warning my daughter and other young mothers I know.

Nothing like good old American greed at its worst.
