UPDATE:
Add this new cd to my list of old rockers done good. Gooood stuff, Maynard.
Long Road Out Of Eden - the Eagles
The Eagles are definitely back in town with this new release. Kman was eager to purchase it, but I was not too enthused - leery, I suppose, of being let down with a ho-hum, "lost-the-edge" kind of musical farce from a group that is legend, but not young rockers anymore.
No farce, my friend.
Long Road Out of Eden is a fantastic, delicious, rockin', pure Eagle fan delight. The harmonies are beautiful, the guitars sharp and spot-on. Not a bad song one on this album (can you say "album" anymore?).
This is where true talent shines bright; a group of guys who obviously have a great relationship that's traveled the distance and retained what made them special in the beginning. With children of their own now, the Eagles' lyrics are still relevant and evoke a remembrance of when we all thought we could change the world, make a difference and be different.
Long Road Out of Eden will join Neil Young's Prairie Wind as some of the most terrific music I've heard in years, the best kind of nostalgic tunes that stick to your ribs; fulfilling, satisfying, and lingering long.
Though Neil Young, Glenn Fry, Don Henley, Joe Walsh, and Timothy Schmidt may be years from their youthful heydays, they continue to turn out polished gems, made even more rich and lustrously deep by the passing of time and and obvious love of song.

I'll admit it. I love the Eagles!
same sound as always. interesting to market exclusively at WalMart. seems like that would cut down on sales. do people think about WalMart when they think about buying CD's?
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours, Miss Patty!
Walked past the new cd just a few days ago. I too, was feeling uncertain as to whether I was up for another "great group gone sour series". After reading your take, I am anxious to revisit life with the Eagles...always loved 'em. Always will...
Gotta get it!
But come on, "Who left the cap off the freakin toothpaste?" Can we not think of something else to rant about? Does nothing rhyme with Mahmoud Amedenijad?
Jimmy - who put the cranky hook-billed parrot in your shorts?
Yeah, the cd picks a fight with those that think patriotism has to be sugared and frosted, with no mention of the salt in the batter.
Tough dookie.
Bill - yes, the Eagles sounded exactly like...well...the Eagles! Personally, that's precisely why we bought it. I don't buy Eagles records expecting to hear Jim Reeves or Snoop Dog.
To each their own...
just testing comments, guys
