Sisters In Heart and Soul

Mom and Evelyn

"Chance made us friends, hearts made us sisters."

"A sister is a little bit of childhood that can never be lost."

"Sisters don't need words. They have perfected a language of snarls and smiles and frowns and winks... expressions of shocked surprise and incredulity and disbelief. Sniffs and snorts and gasps and sighs... that can undermine any tale you're telling."

And sisters, they are. More bonded than any genetics could achieve, Joyce and Evelyn have shared each other's lives, families, hopes and dreams for many years. I won't say we've suffered a loss, for Evelyn will live on in our daily thoughts and with much love in our hearts. Her laughter, her wit, and her wisdom are forever a part of our families' lives.

So many memories, this lady shaped a part of who I am today...and will be tomorrow.

We love you, Aunt Evelyn.

What a lovely tribute to your Aunt Evelyn, "Patti".

I always enjoy the old pictures you post, and these are beautiful! Thanks for sharing this.

The outfits in the first picture were basketball uniforms -Brookesmith High school, I believe.

Funny to think of my mother playing basketball - she is all of 5 feet tall.

Thank you, Trace, for such a gracious comment.

Charming photos, especially the second one withe the cloud of fabric. Did your aunt always pose/stand on your mother's left?

Those are neat pics.

If it weren't for my sister, I wouldn't be the favorite child. Or maybe I would.

I have a similar photo of my mom and her twin sister - they played basketball in Raymondville, TX in the late 30's.
