Real Texas Music

Take the ocean out of Jimmy Buffett (fairly impossible, I know) and toss in some agave, a pair of dust-covered boots, killer guitar licks, and what do you have?

The Border Blasters - a full burrito of honky-tonk, bluegrass, jazz, and R&B all rolled up and salsa'd to perfection.

Delicious listening. Try Contrabandistas as your first entrée.

Todd Jagger and Jimmy Ray Harrell lay down some terrific soundtracks, with a lingering nuance of jalapeno; sounds from my past and from legendary music/beer joints like Gruene Hall or Luckenbach.

You can read Andrew Stuart's interview with these talented musicians at The Desert Candle, select the Spring 2007 edition, and open the pdf file to page 34.

Then, mosey over to the Blasters place and sit a spell listening to their special brand of Lone Star music magic.

You might want to pop-a-top on a cold one with some fresh limes and fix a big plate of homemade nachos to go along with that Blaster Burrito.

Sounds like a perfect relaxing Friday night, don't it?

That sounds like a pretty good Fri. night, but I didn't know we were gonna to do this. So, I went out and listened to some Latin jazz with bongo drums. I'm always the last to be told about these things.
