Gone Fishin'

Many apologies for the lack of a current post, but until Thursday, I will be busy with the 8-5 job, a household, and the care of a two-year old for a few days - my grandson. Oh, and we also have Mia, the cockatiel, too.

His parents are in Mexico enjoying some long-awaited time off, and I am helping out by babysitting. Been a long time since I've done this routine for an extended time. Went pretty smoothly this morning, got the grandson delivered all neat and cheerful to his daycare school. Managed to remember everything (diapers, backpack, sippee cup, change of clothes and his weekly tuition check). I even did the Mommy-wave at the special window that faces the parking lot! (Miss Pat gave me instructions, and there was that smiling little face at the window as I drove by and waved.) Gosh did that ever strike a remembrance...only Emmie Pop cried every morning when I dropped her off at her preschool. Every...morning. Bless her little heart.

So, I'll be back, soon.

So sweet. My sister has a grandchild now, he's 3 this year, and she takes him for a night or two each week. She loves it. She's younger than me!

Brava! I don't think I could do it. I'm the only one in my family who didn't have children. I married into a ready-made family when the youngest was twelve, so I never had to do the "back pack with the entire house" duty.

I've watched my step-daughter for the past two years with her daughter. At first, they packed the entire house. Then they got it down to one huge duffle bag. Now, there's a reasonable tote bag for all the necessary "stuff." I don't know how Moms hold up under the weight of all they carry in addition to their kids.

My family starts looking toward me when we get to the point where a child can potty on his own, and the teens love me for overnighters, and trips to Chicago.

Have fun with your grandson, and Mia, too! *G*

Well, if you ever get a hankering to chase after tots but can't find extended family to spoil come on over to Casa del T-bone. Our almost-4-year-old has been potty trained for several months, and Tater Tot (coming Dec. 11) could definitely use another grandma nearby. :-)

Enjoy that little boy.

What a nice thing for you to do. It seems like everyone has a good time - doing something different.

Sounds like you got up to speed pretty quickly with the little one. Some "how to's" we never really forget, especially if we've gone through it more than once.

Just checkin' in to see if you are still hangin' in with the grandson child...what a wonderful thing for you to do for your children. I'll bet you will have a few experiences to tell us when you return to blogging. Soon, I hope. Smooches...

Sounds like you are doing just fine with your little one. And how great is it that you are making it possible for the parents to have some free time!!

I remember when we finally left Steve with his grandmother and we had a little time away. It's a great experience for everyone.

I must add - Nature is so clever - only young people have babies. ;-)
