Who Is Cowtown Pattie?

I was Lillie Langtry in another life, and might have a crush on Calamity Jane.

Hall of Shame Number #3

*Part of an ongoing little exchange, "What Was I Thinking?", created by our loveable DarkoV. (Although it's gonna be mighty tough to beat out WP's final submission!)

"A story as fresh as the girls in their minis..."

1967: Elvis and Priscilla were married, America lost Gus, Ed and Roger to a fire aboard Apollo 1, Cassius Clay becomes Muhammad Ali and dodges the draft, and Two Moby Grape members were arrested for contributing to delinquency of minors.

The British Invasion was in full fad swing, and American teens were in love with all things Carnaby Street.

"To Sir With Love" was not a bad movie, Sidney Poitier always a sure bet box office-wise, but Lulu...well, at least she had a hit song on her hands for a few months then went rather quickly to obscurity.

The title song, "To Sir With Love" was oh so romantic to a 13 year-old Pattie, who loved to wear her white go-go boots, read Tiger Beat magazines, and paint creatively on her eyelids just like Lulu.

The song was so bad, it rarely hits the mouldy oldies radio stations now. The few times I have heard it in recent years triggered an odd sensation of memory flooding simultaneous with a gag reflex.

And I am sure I will have someone remark that this was their "favorite" and Lulu, a great singer.

Yeah, well, you can put your boots in the oven, but that don't make 'em biscuits...
