Who Is Cowtown Pattie?

Pattie Gets Claustrophobic

Pattie and Santa 1962

I don't remember posing for this photo at all. Perhaps the hands give away my true feelings about this Leonard's department store Santa.

As I recall, Santa brought me the following for Christmas that year:

electric chord organ

Thumbelina doll

Annette and Andy fashion dolls ( my mom was convinced Barbie and Ken were overpriced)

Pair of plastic glittery high heels with elastic straps which I wore with

3 plastic play dress-up wigs. (I can't find an internet photo)

"Authors" card game (something that might be a good toy to re-issue!)

That same year, the Bear (my younger brother), got a pogo stick and a Daisy BB gun. My dad's sense of humor was occasionally misplaced, but I remember laughing until tears were streaming while watching my brother pounce away on his pogo stick out on the caliche and gravel road in front of our house on Christmas eve while my dad pelted the Bear's blue-jeaned butt with BB's. To be fair, Dad did not pump the gun full up, so the low pressure combined with the distance meant the BB's made more noise than actual sting.(Santa came on Christmas eve at our house - always. My parents didn't go for that early morning stuff. Probably due to lots of eggnog consumption.)

Click over to these vintage Christmas pictures and see if you recognize any of your favorite toys. (Okay, so it mostly appeals to Boomers my age and a little older.)

Example - Not the Bear
