...nope not an Ann Margret spoof...(*trivia stuff: did you know that in the movie, Carnal Knowledge, the scene in which Sandy takes out a condom while in bed with Susan is the first time a condom was ever shown onscreen?)
The Kman and I had a marathon last night in the bedroom. Noooo, we watched 4 episodes of HBO's, Carnivale, Season One on HBO On Demand. Since Season Two begins tonight, we had to finish up watching Season One mighty quick. Not enough that we became hooked on Deadwood, now we have added the dark, Dustbowl era drama of Carnivale. HBO has the best creative drama series on television, you agree? We have set the tivo-like recorder from our cable company to capture tonight's new episode, as we will be watching the new Season 4 premiere of Kiefer Sutherland on 24. This Fox series has lost some of its original appeal, and not sure I will watch the whole season as faithful as in the past, but I love Kiefer.
Carnivale's cinematography is so rich and good, definitely a big part of why the creative show is a major winner. As an old Twin Peaks fan, I love the "Lynch-enesque" quality to the storyline. The music of the 1930's fades in and out of scenes, adding more delicious layers. Last night in one of the episodes, an old Jimmie Rodgers tune, Blue Yodel No. 4 (California Blues), tinnily plays from a 1930's Ford Model A radio. Brought back memories of my grandfather, and his love of the Singing Brakeman tunes.
So, tonight will be a real Nielsen night at Cowtown Pattie's abode. Bring the butter, I'll pop the Jiffy Pop!
