That hat gave me leverage in the running battle with Bill, my neighbor, playmate and senior by a year or so. He argued that since I was a GIRL, I had to be Dale Evans. No way! I was going to be Roy when we played cowboys. I was tiny, scrawny and stubborn. i don't remember ever being Dale.
